Watching the World Cup in Soho

It's interesting to see how different cities are embracing the World Cup. In Seattle I was surprised at the amount of coverage it was receiving on the basic television channels. Every game was being shown live and replayed later. Only the English and Irish pubs were showing games and most of my colleagues didn't watch any games.

Of course in Europe it's a different game. We were in Soho for the finals and every shop, restaurant, pub, bar with a television was showing the game.

Soho was eerily quiet for a Sunday evening. Everyone was huddled round the restaurants and bars waiting for the final outcome during penalties. As Italy scored their winning penalty Soho erupted with Italians and their supporters (anyone who didn't want France to win). Suddenly it was a packed party Saturday night.
