Sasquatch 2007 - Arcade Fire and Bjork

Wasn't long before Sasquatch Festival arrived and we were headed 150 miles East towards The Gorge Amphitheatre.


I-90

It's a lovely drive with plenty of changing scenery, starting off lots of mountains, past Snoqualmie, then some interesting lakes. We hit a 6 mile tailback due to a 3 car pileup. Our attempt to take national forest roads failed miserably. Andrew's Beetle wasn't quite up for going over snow capped mountains. Eventually, after gaining some altitude, it flattened out and climate became much drier.

Finally we made it to Sasquatch!


Sasquatch Festival

The view of the Columbia River from the main stage was just amazing. If you didn't like the music, you had the stunning view, if you liked music, then you got an extra bonus.


The Gorge and Columbia River

Besides the main stage there were also two smaller stages allowing you to get a bit closer to the musicians. We went along to see Mirah who was an interesting cross between Tori Amos (no piano), Kate Bush and folk. She had an amazing voice.

As the evening settled down we had some pretty inedible food and met up with some friends who had a prime spot on the lawn.


Arcade Fire

These guys were excellent live. Besides the gothic stage presence with the organ pipes, girls on violins and multitalented instrument swapping musicians they performed really well.


Totally Packed

The final act was Bjork who sang beautifully. She performed a variety of new and old stuff including an great version of Hyperballad.

The drive back wasn't good. My attempts to talk to Andrew whilst he drove failed. Nowhere to get coffee at that time. We made it back just after 4am.
