New York

The plan was simple. Meet up with Krist and Jay in New York for a long weekend of catching up, sightseeing and partying. The exectution was wrong. We all flew in from different airports and arrived on different days. We all stayed in different hotels spread around mid-to-lower Manhattan and we all departed at different times.

My plane couldn't even leave on time. First the crew arrived late the night before and due to mandatory layover times meant we couldn't depart on time. We then had an electrical issue, or was it a guy stuck in the nose?

Can someone please get me out?

This amounted to a 4 hour delay which translated into missing the main dinner that night. Still we met up and had a few drinks until the jetlag got the better of them.

We met up bright and early the next morning. It appears Jay has caught Krist's fetish of collecting hats. They kindly bought me a hat which I had to wear!

After wondering over towards Queens we visited the PS1 MoMA museum which is packed full of contemporary art. There were a few interesting items and a lot of film that wasn't really up my street.

The building itself was very interesting. We suspected it was either a school or hospital, turns out it originally was a school.

We had dinner booked at Nobu (Tribeca) which was excellent. Some of the best Japanese food I've ever had and well worth the price. We had a good selection of cold, hot and raw dishes. We managed to avoid the box'd sake and stick with some refreshing white.

Coming straight out of Nobu was an amusing sight.

A few bars later (including a champagne bar) we ended up at 230 Fifth overlooking The Empire State building.
