Fifteen

Back over in London for a short trip and we managed to get over to Fifteen for a quick lunch.
Fifteen is an unusual venture started by celeb UK chef Jamie Oliver to take 15 young people from deprived backgrounds and give them the chance to build careers and become talented chefs. The whole process was documented openly (including expletives) in the television programme "Jamie's Kitchen" and covered the highs and lows of both Jamie and the 15 apprentices. Some of those that finished the programme went on to become successful chefs and the foundation continues to take on new recruits.
Atmosphere was buzzing, even at lunch, and the kitchen staff (in the downstairs restaurant) can be seen and heard preparing your food which adds more anticipation to your food.
The cuisine was modern English with strong Italian influences (probably from Jamie's River Cafe days). Ingredients were very high quality and service efficient. I had the Carpaccio starter followed by the Welsh lamb. Food was very good but it didn't blow my mind (or should that be tastebuds) away.
